“Drone’s Eye” View of Hospice House Expansion

These drone photos show the progress of the Niagara Hospice House residential wing expansion. This new unit with six additional patient residential suites will open this fall to address the increased needs of more Niagara County residents & their families during end-of-life care. The success of this project is a result of the tremendous community support Niagara Hospice received during last winter’s capital campaign. Click here to see the drone video of the campus.

Vietnam Veterans of America Place Holiday Wreath

Duty, courage, honor, valor & service are etched between the names on the Veterans memorial on the Niagara Hospice campus in Lockport. On Friday, December 17, members of the Niagara County-based Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 268, placed a holiday wreath at the memorial for the eighth year. Thank you to the VVA for visiting today to honor Veterans and share in the holiday spirit.

“Today we are not only here to honor those who took time out of their life to protect our freedom, but also to remember the family and friends who prayed for their safe return when they served in the military,” VVA member Gordon Bellinger stated at the presentation. “So, as you go through this season and every day of your life, put on a smile and even laugh out loud, thinking of a moment you shared with them.”

Grigg Lewis Foundation Provides First Grant to Expand Hospice House

Niagara Hospice today announced it has received the first major community gift toward the $2 million capital campaign to expand Hospice House, where terminally ill patients and families receive specialized care and support.
The Grigg Lewis Foundation, based in Lockport, provided a lead grant toward the ongoing community campaign that will help fund the addition of six residential patient suites to the facility at 4675 Sunset Drive. Construction is underway for the expansion project that will complete the Hospice House with 16 total residential suites, the maximum capacity allowed by New York State.
“We are very grateful for this significant support from the Grigg Lewis Foundation, which has been a generous partner of Niagara Hospice for more than 20 years. The foundation provided major gifts for the construction of Hospice House from 2006-2008. It is wonderful to receive this grant to help complete the Hospice House story and enhance quality of life for more Niagara County families during end-of-life situations,” said John Lomeo, President & CEO of Niagara Hospice.
Niagara Hospice House opened in June 2007 as a state-of-the-art facility that has been the model of hospice facilities throughout the country. The expanded residential wing is scheduled to be completed and ready for patients and families prior to the facility’s 15th anniversary in June 2022.
