Niagara Hospice is warning potential donors to closely check any mailed solicitations they receive asking for money to support hospice care locally. An organization known as the Hospice Support Fund out of Merrifield, Virginia has been seeking donations by mail in Niagara County. Those donations do not support Niagara Hospice according to Patricia Degan, Director of Marketing, Public Relations & Volunteer Services.

Degan said anything from Niagara Hospice will include the organization's name, logo and local contact information.  Niagara Hospice most recently sent out appeal letters requesting donations for Niagara Hospice House in honor of the 10th Anniversary of opening the doors to residential and in-patient hospice services.

Anyone wishing to donate to a specific hospice organization should look up the address, website or call the organization directly to find out where to send money. Donors to Niagara Hospice can mail donations to 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or make a secure, on-line donation at NiagaraHospice.org.

Niagara Hospice has served over 25,000 Niagara County residents and their families since 1988. Hospice is specialized care for the terminally ill. Niagara Hospice provides supportive services to both the patient and family - providing more comfort, dignity and choice. For more information, call Niagara Hospice at 439-4417 or visit www.NiagaraHospice.org.
