Mon, Nov 11th 2019 04:30 pm

Niagara Hospice announced the hiring of Martina Fern as the Director of Development. In this position, she will lead the organization’s fundraising, planned giving, special events and grant development.

Fern has worked in nonprofit fundraising for more than 20 years in a variety of sectors, including human services, animal welfare, public media and science advocacy. She will steward long-term relationships between donors and foundations and the organization.

“Niagara Hospice provides such a wide array of important, specialized services. I experienced hospice care first-hand with my brother several years ago and the support my family received was tremendous, and it meant the world to us,” said Fern, a native of Kassel, Germany who has lived in the United States for 30 years. “I’m thrilled to join the organization and meet the remarkable supporters throughout Niagara County, Western New York and beyond.”

Fern is a resident of Lewiston with her husband Paul and an array of pets.

For more than 30 years, Niagara County residents and Western New Yorkers have contributed to Niagara Hospice’s mission of providing specialized care for patients and personalized support for families and caregivers. This community support includes volunteering with patients and at special events, donating to the annual appeal, dedicating memorial items on the Niagara Hospice campus and providing legacy giving through bequests, beneficiary designations, annuities and trusts.
