| OISHEI FUNDS HOSPICE HOUSE |

The John R. Oishei Foundation has committed $300,000 to Niagara Hospice to help fund Niagara Hospice House – an 18-suite residential center in Lockport. “The John R. Oishei Foundation is proud to support Niagara Hospice’s efforts to provide the people of Niagara County exceptional and critical services at the end of life,” stated foundation president Thomas Baker. The grant will support personnel and equipment necessary for start-up and initial services at the new facility.
Niagara Hospice House will be Niagara County’s only residential hospice house, providing hospice services to patients and their families who are not able to receive home hospice care. The 22,000 square foot residence will be built on property already owned by Niagara Hospice at its campus on Sunset Drive in Lockport.
Niagara Hospice President & CEO John Lomeo stated, “The Oishei Foundation support will help ensure that hospice care will be available to all Niagara County residents who need it, regardless of their home environment or caregiver resources.”
The John R. Oishei Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for Buffalo area residents by supporting education, healthcare, scientific research and the cultural, social, civic and other charitable needs of the community. The Foundation was established in 1940 by John R. Oishei, founder of Trico Products Corporation.
Since serving its first patient in 1988, Niagara Hospice has served over 6,000 individuals as well as their immediate and extended families. Hospice services include physical care, emotional care, spiritual care and bereavement care. Hospice care is appropriate for any advanced stage illness, not just cancer, where the prognosis is a life expectancy of approximately six months or less.
