| MRS. NEW YORK PAGEANT CHOOSES NIAGARA HOSPICE |
 |
The Mrs. New York United States pageant recently teamed with Niagara Hospice to hold a charity auction during the pageant weekend. The $535 proceeds from the auction were presented to Dr. Lorie Hildreth (center), Director of Outreach Services at Niagara Hospice.
Pageant Director Sheila Strassburg (left) has deep respect for Hospice and its caregivers, stating: “I watched my parents deteriorate for two long years before they passed away, first Mom in 2006 and then Dad this past year. I also watched Niagara Hospice and their wonderful staff help comfort, give joy, and work their magic with my parents. We grew to love our team of expert workers who took such good care of Mom and Dad.” The auction was held in memory of Rose Marie and Charles E. Smith.
Every year, the pageant raises funds for worthy organizations. When the pageant unveiled its plan to donate to Niagara Hospice, each contestant jumped on board. Pictured at right with Strassburg and Hildreth is Melissa Ognibene of Oakfield, New York – Mrs. New York United States 2008. She is the 22nd woman to win the title. The pageant is produced exclusively for married women and was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Niagara Falls where 16 delegates and their families from across New York State were in attendance. |
