The Niagara Hospice Alliance was established in 2009 to support the services and programs associated with the charitable mission of Niagara Hospice.
Niagara Hospice relies on the community for financial support to provide services to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. The organization is funded by grants, corporate donations, planned and deferred giving, community events, and tax-deductible voluntary contributions.

"Planned giving" refers to a wide assortment of methods where charitable giving is used as a financial planning tool - a way for you to make plans that make the best use of your assets, take full advantage of tax credits available, and implement charitable goals today and well into the future. Planned gifts are gifts that donors initiate.
Planned giving involves the use of annuities, pooled funds, trusts, bargain sales, and life-estate gifts of real estate.
Many significant gifts through the use of life insurance and retirement plans are an increasingly popular way to give. In fact, IRS regulations issued in 2001 regarding individual retirement accounts (IRA's) and other retirement plans has made it easier, and more advantageous to name a charity such as the Niagara Hospice Alliance as the beneficiary.
You can look into the advantages of planned giving by asking your advisors - bankers, lawyers, accountants, financial planners - for suggestions based on your personal circumstances. The Niagara Hospice Alliance welcomes the opportunity to assist you and your advisors in identifying giving options that best suit your interests and financial goals.
When preparing or amending your Will, you can leave a legacy supporting the work of Niagara Hospice. Ordinary people with ordinary incomes generally have an estate when they die - a house, money, IRAs, insurance policies and personal belongings. It doesn't take a lot to make a bequest that will have a significant impact on the important work of Niagara Hospice. In many cases, gifting some portion of your estate actually helps your heirs from a tax standpoint.
Making a Bequest through your estate plan to support Niagara Hospice is really quite simple. To ensure that your exact intentions are carried out, estate planning documents should be prepared in consultation with your attorney and financial advisors. Donors are encouraged to contact our development coordinator with questions about giving programs, the scope of programs and services supported by charitable gifts, the recognitions available for you and your family, and any needed technical assistance.
If you decide to include Niagara Hospice in your will, please let us know. We are always honored to be remembered by our friends in such a personal and significant way. Please let us know of your plans so that we have the opportunity to personally thank you.
Often individuals or groups will decide to hold an event and donate the proceeds to Niagara Hospice. The event can be as simple as a picnic or as elaborate as a golf tournament. Softball tournaments, fireman's balls, pig roasts, fashion shows and formal dinner dances have all been held by other organizations and individuals in support of Hospice. These events are especially appreciated because they come from the heart and demonstrate how much the hospice concept of care means to the community.

Sponsorship dollars help offset the cost of hospice programs and services, allowing Niagara Hospice to be innovative in providing the best end-of-life care.
